Many adults make a commitment to show their love by becoming a full or part-time caregiver for an older parent or another family member. This can be a fulfilling and satisfying role, but it can also cause fatigue and stress in the caregiver, who is often working and raising a family as well. A therapist can be a trusted support person to help the caregiver utilize local community resources and share the care giving responsibilities with others. Therapy also provides a place the caregiver can identify and acknowledge his/her needs and plan for good self-care while taking steps to manage physical and emotional stress.
